ARCHITECTURAL EXTRAORDINAIRE, ENVIRONMENTAL ADVOCATE, AND SUSTAINABLE DESIGNER
Growing up in the construction industry, my passion for architectural design and building construction was ignited from a young age. After completing my studies in 2005, summa cum laude, specializing in architectural documentation and contract law, I embarked on a remarkable journey that would shape my extremely blessed career.
From 2005 to 2009, I had the privilege of working for a renowned architectural firm in Johannesburg, specializing in industrial, commercial, and retail design. It was during this time that my love for pushing boundaries and redefining the aesthetic landscape truly flourished. In 2009, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity beckoned me to the breathtaking shores of New Zealand. I joined one of the top five leading architectural practices in the country, renowned for their innovative approaches and string of local and international accolades. Immersed in projects spanning retail, commercial, and residential sectors, I thrived in this vibrant atmosphere, infusing my South African flair with a global perspective.
Armed with a wealth of invaluable knowledge gained from both local and international experiences, I took a leap of faith in 2011 and founded Green Block Architects. Together with a team of skilled
professionals, we established a firm that stood at the forefront of cutting-edge design and sustainable practices. As the CEO and co-director, I helped orchestrate a symphony of creativity, transforming concepts into awe-inspiring realities across a multitude of technical and design fields. However, my ambitions didn’t stop there. Pushing my skills of versatility, I simultaneously embarked on a second directorship at LJM Builders, my family’s renowned construction and development firm. Together, as a dynamic Father and Son turnkey development solution, we specialize in the high-end luxury residential sector, creating architectural masterpieces that capture the imagination and exceed all client expectations. In 2023, the world witnessed the dawn of a new chapter in my journey as I assumed the role of Chief Technology Officer at the esteemed Evangelou Group. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, I spearheaded their visionary and humanitarian aid projects, both locally and internationally, leaving an indelible mark not just on the architectural landscape but also on the future of neglected communities.
My passion goes beyond mere aesthetics and profitability. I firmly believe that architecture and sustainable business management have the power to create a positive impact on our planet and the lives of those less fortunate. Throughout my career, I have embraced sustainable and biophilic design principles, recognizing our responsibility towards the environment.
I strive to create harmonious spaces that
coexist with nature, incorporating natural elements, maximizing natural light, and utilizing organic materials. By fostering a deep connection between humans and the natural world, we enhance well-being and productivity while reminding ourselves of our intrinsic relationship with nature. Furthermore, I am dedicated to extending the reach of sustainable design to vulnerable communities. Collaborating with non-profit organizations and community-driven initiatives, I actively seek opportunities to create sustainable and affordable housing and humanitarian aid solutions. By incorporating eco-friendly materials, renewable energy systems, and smart design strategies, we provide dignified living spaces that promote social equity and environmental stewardship. Beyond the physical aspects of architecture, I recognize the importance of education and awareness in creating lasting change. I engage with educational institutions, conduct workshops, and deliver inspirational talks to spread knowledge about sustainable design and its impact on both the planet and society. By nurturing the next generation of architects and designers, I hope to encourage a deep sense of responsibility and a shared vision for a more sustainable future.
My commitment to excellence extends beyond design and sustainability. With a strong foundation in project management, I coordinate intricate endeavours with assurance and precision. The dynamic interplay of timelines, resources, and teams working together on a critical path for the
ultimate success of a project is what drives me. Leveraging my years of experience, I ensure that every project, from inception to fruition, is a true reflection of efficiency and innovation. My proficiency in Project Management not only guarantees seamless execution but also fosters an environment where creativity flourishes, deadlines are met and client expectations are exceeded. Sustainable business management is not just a concept term to use but a cornerstone of my approach to every project. With a philosophical belief in the interdependence of business success and environmental responsibility, I integrate sustainable practices into the fabric of every venture. As a company and team leader, I infuse my projects with eco-conscious decisionmaking, optimizing resource utilization, minimizing waste, and fostering a culture of responsibility. By embedding sustainability at the core of business strategies, I not only drive profitability but also contribute to a more environmentally conscious world. This commitment extends beyond the design phase, ensuring that the legacy of each project resonates with both environmental mindfulness and community empowerment. My dedication to sustainable and biophilic design principles goes beyond professional obligations, it is a reflection of my core values and my profound understanding of the connection and correlation between humanity, nature, and social equity. Through this vision and approach, I have become an advocate for nature and humanity as a constant biosphere.
